Daniel Pemberton Actively Recording Soundtrack for Masters of the Universe

The sound of Eternia is officially taking shape. Daniel Pemberton, the Academy Award-nominated composer behind the groundbreaking scores for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that recording sessions are officially underway for the upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action film.

Pemberton took to social media to share the milestone with fans, posting a photo from the studio with the caption, “We have begun.. 🎶 #MastersOfTheUniverse.” The post has sent waves of excitement through the He-Man fanbase, signaling that the long-awaited reboot is moving steadily toward its June 5, 2026 release date.

“My Most Maximalist Score Ever”

This isn’t just another project for Pemberton. In a previous reveal, the composer expressed his immense enthusiasm for working with director Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings). Pemberton described the upcoming soundtrack as his “most maximalist score ever,” suggesting a massive, epic orchestral sound that matches the high-fantasy scale of the franchise.

Given Pemberton’s track record for blending traditional orchestral arrangements with experimental electronics, as seen in his iconic “Prowler” theme or the punk-rock energy of Spider-Gwen, fans are eager to hear how he reimagines the heroic fanfares of He-Man and the dark, menacing motifs of Skeletor.

A Star-Studded Return to Eternia

The new Masters of the Universe film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, aims to bring a fresh yet faithful perspective to the world of Eternia. The cast is already packed with A-list talent:

  • Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam / He-Man
  • Jared Leto as the villainous Skeletor
  • Camila Mendes as Teela
  • Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn
  • Idris Elba in a mysterious, high-profile role

Director Travis Knight has promised a film that embraces the “inherent silliness” and “virtue” of the original 1980s cartoon while grounding it in a high-stakes, big-budget cinematic experience.

This is Important for MOTU Fans

For years, the Masters of the Universe live-action reboot lived in “development hell,” moving between various studios and directors. With filming completed and Pemberton now actively “conjuring the music,” the project feels more real than ever.

As the recording sessions continue, fans will be listening closely for any snippets of the score that might hint at a return of the classic 1983 theme or a completely new sonic identity for the Man-At-Arms and his allies.

Masters of the Universe is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
