Mattel Masters of the Universe Chronicles Cardback

The Masters of the Universe collecting community is buzzing today after a massive reveal at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. Fans have finally received their first look at the highly anticipated MOTU Chronicles line via a viral Instagram post, showcasing a direction that leans heavily into the cinematic aesthetic of the upcoming live-action film.

The initial reveal highlights two core figures from the first wave: Man-at-Arms and Evil-Lyn.

A New Vision for Eternia

The MOTU Chronicles figures on display seem to be in the scale of Mattel’s Masterverse line. We do not have confirmation yet, but looking at the articulation, it would lead us to believe that these are the same type figures.

  • Man-at-Arms: Ditching the orange plastic for a weathered, metallic armor set, this figure features the heavy-tech gauntlets and tactical gear of Duncan’s new movie appearance.
  • Evil-Lyn: Capturing the dark elegance of the film’s iconic sorceress, the figure showcases intricate molding on the headpiece and what appears to be rips in your pants legs. Something that we could not see in the recent trailer.

Wave 1 Lineup Confirmed via Cardback

While Man-at-Arms and Evil-Lyn were the only figures physically present on display, the back of the packaging, or “cardback”, revealed more of the inaugural wave.

According to the leaked images, the MOTU Chronicles Wave 1 will include:

  1. Man-at-Arms (Movie Version)
  2. Evil-Lyn (Movie Version)
  3. He-Man (Movie Version)
  4. Tri-Klops (Movie Version)

The inclusion of Tri-Klops is particularly interesting to fans as we did not see him in the trailer. Or at least, I did not.

Release Date and Pre-Order Expectations

While no official price point was listed at the booth, the “Chronicles” branding suggests a premium collector-tier product, likely sitting alongside the Masterverse price bracket. If production follows the standard Nuremberg reveal cycle, we can expect pre-orders to go live in the coming months with a shipping window most likely, a month or so before the film debuts.

The MOTU Chronicles line is clearly aimed at the adult collector, bridging the gap between movie aesthetics and modern toy engineering.
